I had wrist surgery, and perhaps the notice my mum sent out explains it best:
Kelley's surgery ended up being much more extensive than we had planned. They had predicted 20 minutes and it ended up being 2 hours. The ligament was totally torn off the bone and scar tissue had begun forming. They cleaned off the scar tissue and reattached the ligament to the bone in her wrist. The saddest news is that Kelley never expected that they would find anything wrong - the MRI had picked up nothing. When she woke up from the surgery and started to ask
questions you could just see her want to cry, but being the strong Kelley we know, would not. This is after all, her third cast in less than a year, and this one is for 8 weeks.
Needless to say, she is miserable. Her biggest concern ofcourse is falling behind in school (her friends and her horses) and all I can tell her is that
we have been here before and she can do it.
The original injury was at Horse camp last summer in June and they had casted it thinking that would be it - not the case.
Just wanted to let you know
Most of you know I went in on Friday for a check up because I was having fevers and chills and not doing any better and they had to cut off the temporary cast and move my hand. They took out the stitches (my mum bless her, had to leave the room) and then they moved my arm to recast it and without support the pain was intolerable I nearly fainted. Now I have another temporary cast for two weeks (it is open on either side to allow for swelling). Then I get a full plaster cast for 2 months, but hopefully can do more with that. Although I am dying that I cannot ride my horses until that perminent cast!!
I am being my normal self and refusing to take pain medications (as much as possible) -for those who don't know feel free to ask but there is a strong history why.
No pity please, that is the last thing in the world I want.
For laughs...

Cast 2
And once I get the perminent new one... I'm sure I'll have a photo of that one too.
