(This film is based on religion, I do not mean to offend or impose on anyone, there are simply so many great aspects that cannot go unsaid by me of this masterpiece.)
Robbin Williams gives one of his most serious and thought provoking performances to date!
If I am remembering correctly he is a professor (or simply a teacher) of painting and art, it is his passion. Then one fateful day, he is in a car wreck and dies.... but that is not the ending to his character.
We see him in Heaven (and this is how I hope it truly is) ...you create your Heaven... his love for art shows, by everything he is surrounded by is made of paint, and he is so happy... free of pain and sorrow.
But his now widowed life has no easy task in front of her, they were deeply in love and she sees no point in living without him, and thus commits suicide (not so light hearted).
Throughout the film we see very vivid descriptions through our eyes of both of these "worlds"... and when Williams' character finds out his wife has killed her self (thus going to Hell) he makes it his duty to save her.
I am not sure I have ever seen a more visually fascinating film!
