That's what I thought it was! I believe Jack's wife...although I can see why she would lie about it. Poor Ennis Poor Jack

Do you think she was lying ? It is so hard to tell at times...

Well, I certainly don't think she told Ennis the whole story. She was so brittle by that stage. But I don't think Jack got beaten up because he was gay....I think Ennis made that up in his own mind.

But in that flashback scene Jack was young again. It was like the youth of Jack, his innocence dying (how I perceived it at least)
But definitely she must have been trying to shelter him

That's a detail I have missed, I didn't belive in his wife... how suspicious I am... But it's a very interesting perspective from the writer.

When I saw the film for the first time, I was thinking that Jack's wife was lying, because Jack's death circumstances are ... weird! And totally crazy... Dying because of a bursted tire seems totally incredible!!
But the second time (today), I took care of this detail, and now, I think that this scene is a fear of Ennis... And I don't trust Jack's wife, even today! I think she's lying, or trying to hide something...

Hmm..It's interesting because that scene was hard for me to interpret. I could see Jack, and he did look younger than he should have, and he was being chased and then I remember what Ennis had said about the things that he didn't might get Jack killed and I was trying to interpret that into the scene and such but it was still confusing. At least now I have something else to think about...

This is really interesting because I took it for granted that Jack's wife was lying because she was aware Ennis was one of his "hump" buddies. On the other hand she herself may have been told a cock and bull story to cover up his murder which she may or may not have believed. Jack's wounds would look conveniently similar in either case. But Ennis's entire experience tells him that if people find out you're gay, you get killed. I just wish he hadn't died

:-/Oh I really thought that guy (forgot his name srry)... (Lureen and him met along the road with his wife) killed him. Since he was the "other" guy Jack would bring home and since Jack flirted with all straight guys he liked but only Ennis was attracted to him. This confuses me a lot oh oh another reason to see it again ...

I don't think that Randal killed Jack, but I mean who really knows. I did hear on the interview with Ang and Heath that Ang had shot two flash back scenes that may have explained it more? I am crossing my fingers that when the DVD comes out it will have TONS of extras . I was so sad that Jack had died, why couldn't he have just been beaten up but lived

To really tell if Lureen wa really telling the truth maybe we could look at it in Alma's point of view. If she would have just found out that her husband was killed because he had a secret relationship with another guy what would she say to Jack.

To my mind, Lureen didn't lie but she didn't tell the whole story, as someone here said before me! Well, I don't also think that Jack was beaten up because he was gay, I believe the story of the car, but maybe someone passed the way, while Jack was lying there on the ground and this someone didn't turn him around because he was gay. Well, that's my interpretition, does it make sense??

Oh man, you know, i just have to get something off my chest. All sad movies ever created, all those that leave people in tears( even the hard-gutted people), all those i never shed a tear for, not one, i have NEVER cried in a movie before. But BBM, i cried two and a half hours. I waited till it was done so my tears wouldnt blurr my vision, and when i saw the shirt and the post card stuck in the cupboard door, in the last scene, and Ennis' tear-filled eyes, the music, and just how it all ended, I DIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could already feel my eyes burn when i realised Jack was dead, but like i said, if i had cried then i wouldnt have been able to see the rest of the film. Another weird thing is, i never watched the movie again, not because i didnt wanna cry, but because it is special to me, the feeling i felt should only be felt once, the music should be a distant memory in my sub-concious. And it is...
Damn you BBM! you made me cry against my will!!!!
