One year I went on a Victor Hugo craze... I was very very young and just fell in love with this timeless epic story. (It is truly a huge book, but for an ambitious young girl, was right up her alley, and has never left!)
Not surprisingly, I am also a huge fan of the movie and the musical.
Anyone else into Les Misérables or Mr. Hugo?

I read Les Misérables long time ago, and I agree, it's a huge book!! I loved it! Sometimes, I call myself Cosette, when I work very hard!
I also read Dernier Jour D'Un Condamné, Notre Dame de Paris and Les Contemplations.
I like his way of writing! Everytime I read one of his book, it's a kind of trip in the old France!

You are so very right! You feel like you are truly brought into the time period of old France. His style brings you straight into the book and I know, for me at least, you become envelopped in this beautiful story and dynamic characters... it just feels very real, very believeable! Les Misérables... oh wow! Jean & Javert are probably the two most arch-enemies... the greatest chemistry of villian and citizen I have seen. I love reading or watching as the words unfold and the story grows complex. They are so vastly different, but also so very similiar. And young Cosette, yes with a huge workload it is easy to associate with her! lol.. though I never think I have been in quite her situation.
