I've loved Jake in many things over the past few years and I have to say his performance in Brokeback is definitely his best yet. Although I think his incredible acting in Jarhead is a close second. This wonderful guy can do no wrong in my eyes! He's always been so completely believable in every role he's played and always so different. He's so versatile. Ever since seeing him in Donnie Darko I've been besotted with the guy! I really think Jake is one of the greatest actors of our time and he'll just keep going from strength to strength. Plus, the fact that he's gorgeous doesn't hurt either! Lol. Jake Gyllenhaal = sheer perfection!

Could you just believe the power and emotion he exerted in his character? I was sooooooooo blown away! Yes, that's something I love! If I become an actor later, I really want to act like that, showing an emotion just with the eyes, or with a move... For me, it's the most beautiful way to act...

Exactly Rafael, many actors these days try too hard. Jake has an air about him... he just belongs on screen. His subtle movements, his compelling eyes, his honesty and innocence, you just believe his actions ;D

it's all thanks to jakey that I'm a Brokeback Fan....or to be exact- it's thanx to him that I became a brokeback fan waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before this movie came to theaters and way before anyone had ever heard of it to begin with.....or should I say- back when jakey boy signed the contract and thereby accepted the role of our beloved jack nasty when I found out jake had accepted the role, I was like 'omg, he's gonna play a gay guy, that's soooooooooooo amazing'- it made me love him even more to tell ya the truth. I realised then what a great and open-minded person he is. then I immediately found the short story on the Net, printed it and I was hooked.......so I've been waiting for this movie for what, I dunno, a year and a half maybe? so you can only imagine the emotional impact it had on me when I finally got the opportunity to see it in theatres a month ago....and I've seen it 4 times since

Wow Thanks for sharing your story!! I did not know about the film before it hit the big screen but when it did... well, lol... that's why I had to make the site I love Jack Nasty He is very open minded but as the Oprah transcript states, he wasn't at first.

I think a lot of people missunderstood what he wanted to say on Oprah. The thing is- when he accepted the role of jack, he stated in a few interviews ( they're like, a year and a half old ) that he doesn't have a problem with gays because he 'grew up surround by gay couples' and that 'every man goes through a phase in his life when he feels attracted to other guys'....and just recently he said: 'I don't mind beeing labeled a bisexual, I'm open for everything people want to call me. that just means I can play a variety of roles'. and he ALWAYS calls brokeback a 'beautiful LOVE STORY' and said on numerous occasions how love is love and how it doesn't matter whether you fall in love with a guy or a girl. so the thing he said on oprah- she's the one who mentioned the word 'homophobic', he just said 'yeah' and started explaining. I watched the video on youtube and he basically said that the thing is that it's pretty tough when you're a kid, 'cause kids can be pretty nasty and mean and then they'd go and call each other names ( it was obvious he was referring to stuff like: 'fagot', 'queer' etc. ) and so you automatically start thinking of those as bad things, you know? because they're ment as insults. that's what he was aiming for.

Oh I think I am misunderstood. There was a bit before that where he said to do the film he had to get over his own prejudices and when the script was first circulating he was 16 and not so open to the idea of it (because of hearing it the ' gay cowboy' movie) but after reading the script loved it. And found it to be such a sensational love story. I understand completely the rest of what you say

yeah, but I don't think they were prejudices like 'omg, being gay is so mental'....I think it was more like 'well, getting it on with another guy....I dunno how comfortable that would be'. so it's kinda obvious his first reaction would be like 'woah, slow down a bit'. I don't think he was like one of those rednecks and homophobes. he was like 'I'm okay with it- in general....I just wouldn't feel comportable doing it'. that's the impression I got anyway. but as you said, he read the script and saw it for the beautiful and heartbreaking love story it is. so that's another proof of him not being a 'homophobe' in the real sense of the word.

Yes I would never never classify him as a homophobe!!! And I don't think he thinks being gay is mental either. I hope I come across properly in what I mean to say

After seeing Donnie Darko I thought to myself...hmm, wouldn't it be nice to see this young Jake Gyllenhaal shimmied in a pair of tight jeans and getting off with another bloke. (Admittedly I think this about everyone I fancy). Few years later and BBM comes out. Wishes really can come true!

... ;D I could not agree more! Though beyond the sex and the obvious turn-on factors I love the underlying story so much more. But ...yes the sentimental and sex scenes are quite nice! (understatement) I also love in the beginning when he seems to be sizing Ennis up, and then leaning over his truck... and later adjusting his belt buckle... I wanted to scream because ...well... He is so evident! ...Yes I am a woman who loves this man
